Donnerstag, 03.05.2007 Am Morgen haben wir in Vancouver den Bus nach Horseshoe Bay genommen und von dort die Fähre nach Nanaimo. Dort hatten wir mit der Autovermietung vereinbart, unseren Van entgegen zu nehmen, was auch prompt klappte. Wegen dem vorhergesagten Wetter in Tofino fuhren wir zuerst nach Victoria, die Hauptstadt der Provinz British Columbia. Dies war nicht optimal, denn so mussten wir die Strecke von Nanaimo nach Victoria gleich dreimal fahren. Aber immer noch viel besser, als bei Regen in Tofino zu stecken. VictoriaVictoria hat einen äusserst schönen Stadtkern. Rund um den Hafen gelegen sind die ganz berühmten Bauwerke wie das Empress Hotel, die Parliament Buildings and das Royal British Columbia Museum. Letzteres ist eines der besten Museen, das wir jemals besucht haben. Neben den Wanderausstellungen gibt es auch ständige Ausstellungen über die Natur und Geschichte von British Columbia.

Die Altstadt verlockt auch zum Bummeln entlang der Schaufenster und zum Verweilen in den Cafés und Restaurants. Im Restaurant Milestone's direkt am Hafen haben wir Marco's fünfjähriges Arbeitsjubiläum in der Cyfex gefeiert. Besser war das Essen allerdings im Earl's einen Tag später.

Thursday, 03.05.2007 It was early morning when we took the bus from Vancouver to Horseshoe Bay in order to reach the ferry to Nanaimo. That's where we had agreed with the car rental company to receive our van. It worked out very well. Because the weather forecast for Tofino was not so good we decided to drive to Victoria first. That is the capital of the province of British Columbia. Sure, that decision was not optimal as now we had to drive the section from Nanaimo to Victoria three times, but it was still much better than staying in Tofino when it was raining. 
Parliament Buildings
VictoriaDowntown Victoria is quite pretty. Situated around the central harbour there are some very famous buildings like the Empress Hotel, the parliament buildings and the Royal British Columbia Museum. Later is one of the best museums we have ever visited. Besides changing exhibitions there are also regular exhibitions about the nature and history of British Columbia.

The old town is inviting for strolling alongside showcases and staying in some of the cafes and restaurants. We celebrated Marco's fifth year at Cyfex at Milestone's. Although, food was better at Earl's where we spent our evening one day later. | |
